An interview with MH Editor, Rebecca
MEET ISABEL - Isabel (@isabel.wherry) is a mom to twins living in Illinois with baby #3 on the way. As an influencer, farmer’s wife, and now home renovator, we chatted with Isabel all about juggling life on the farm and being a twin mama.
Tell us a little bit about living in Illinois.
Living in my hometown is very peaceful. It is a very slow-paced city, so I feel like I have always been able to enjoy the simple moments! I have been in this little town forever! Since our town is so small there wasn’t a ton to do growing up, and I was eager to say I was moving to a big city once I graduated, but the older I got the more I enjoyed the laidback lifestyle that our town has to offer.
Why did you decide to start your family here?
Alex is a farmer so his roots are planted here! When I married him, staying in our town was just a part of the package deal! Plus… my family is here and both sets of the kids’ grandparents, and now that I have kids I couldn’t imagine not having family close by.
What do you love about your town?
It’s really simple and slow paced and charming. Everybody knows everybody, they’re super friendly and welcoming. And I think it really gives you like the whole hometown feel. It has a lot of historical touches that make it unique.
How would you describe the “local color” of where you live?
Very welcoming, friendly, and small town vibes. Everybody knows everybody. And it's been great raising a family here.
Can you tell us about the locations you are shooting in?
Heritage canyon, which is a historical landmark in town and one of the most frequently visited places. It is also very special to me because I grew up in the main house on the property for a few years. There’s also Fulton Dike - my family and I love spending evenings walking or riding bikes on the dike! We always see the best sunsets since we are right along the Mississippi River.
Then there’s our farm! We spend a majority of our time at home on our farm and it’s so special to us. We love having our animals right outside our door so we can spend a lot of time with them.
What are you inspired by?
I am always inspired by my children to be the best that I can be for them.
What is your favorite color?
Pink! When I think of pink I think of happiness, and fun.
What are your favorite colors to wear?
I love wearing neutrals for a majority of the year, but bright colors in the summer are my favorite.
What are you most grateful for in this moment?
In this moment I am most grateful for my family, a hardworking husband especially during harvest time, and a healthy pregnancy!
Describe life on the farm.
We love spending most of our days here. As a stay at home mom, it’s nice to have acres and acres of land to run around on. Depending on the season, we always find something to do around here, whether it’s during harvest time and the kids are helping their dad, or planting season which is super busy. We enjoy being outside on the playground or just feeding our animals and visiting them.
Tell us about your family.
We were both so excited to start our family after we got married, and we found out we were pregnant 6 months after our wedding day. Unfortunately, we lost our first pregnancy early on, but it was such a blessing when we found out that we were having twins a few months later! We have three and a half year old boy-girl twins, Harlow and Miles. And we think that they are going to make the best big brother and sister. It’s been really fun to see it through their eyes.
Can you tell us your birth plan?
For my first labor and delivery, one twin was born vaginally and the other was an emergency C-section. So for this pregnancy I will be having a scheduled C-section on December 9th.
What is your best postpartum recovery advice or tip for moms?
Ask for help when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
Can you share your feeding plan? And what you have learned with your previous children?
I plan to breastfeed again and pump to give Alex and I the option to leave the baby if necessary.
Tell us about having a third.
I thought I would notice a big difference in being pregnant with one vs. twins but it wasn’t until a few weeks ago I really noticed a difference. I could tell my growth had slowed a lot more versus the last few weeks of pregnancy with the twins. I was so uncomfortable with my twin pregnancy leading up to a few weeks before I delivered but I am feeling really good and comfortable still. I love being able to feel more kicks this time around.
What is the BEST thing about being a mom right now?
Seeing everything through their eyes! It is so magical!
What is the MOST CHALLENGING thing about being a mom right now?
Finding time for myself! As a stay-at-home mom and with Alex in the field for 15 hours a day right now, it can be hard to prioritize myself.
What Motherhood styles are you loving right now?
I love the Jessica Simpson dress, and the Indigo Blue Jeans. So comfortable and flattering!
How do you juggle motherhood, your brand, and having a life?
Motherhood will always be my #1 priority so everything else just comes after that. Alex and I make a great team and that has allowed me to create content part time when he is home at night or on the weekends.
Tell us about your website.
I started my website shortly after having twins! I wanted to be a resource for new moms or moms of twins who could come to one place for reliable and helpful information about sleep training, breastfeeding, baby products, etc.
How did you get started?
I just started! I thought about it for a few months, and then one day I just bought the plan on WordPress and went for it.
What type of content do you focus on?
At first I was writing new posts specifically to share information with other moms. Now it has changed into more of a lifestyle blog where I share home decor, recipes, products and other things that I love.
