NATIONAL BREASTFEEDING MONTH 2021: Hey, look ma, we made this

Editor: Callan

August. The month we dedicate to one of the most exhausting and selfless jobs in the world: feeding your baby. And yes, I do mean feeding your baby. Whether breastfeeding, pumping, or formula feeding, we’re celebrating it all – and all moms. Because no matter how you’re doing it, feeding your baby is hard work. It’s a sleep-deprived, spit-up cleaning, diaper changing, I-feel-like-I-was-hit-by-a-car, is-baby-eating-enough, but also I’m-kind-of-bored marathon. A marathon that is somehow being run while you’re simultaneously trying to go about business as usual. The motherhood juggle is real – but, we’re all kinda in it together.

And this idea was the driving message behind our newest breastfeeding month campaign: You Do You, Mama. We wanted to tell the true story about feeding your baby: the struggles, the confusing – often contradictory – advice, and the magic of those moments with baby that make it all worth it (I mean, just look at that little face). So with the help of mother/daughter team KR SQUARED PRODUCTIONS, we brought that message to life. And these two women – with the personal experience of pumping in a stall, while listening to the rhythmic sound of their Medela and the automatic flusher – understood the assignment. Every mom, no matter the era or form of feeding, has a story to tell about their feeding journey.

Telling a story about the realities of feeding your baby also meant that we wanted to keep it real with the cast. Each of the women in You Do You, Mama, is an actual mother – and those are their actual babies. Their personal experiences helped us to create an authentic story about what it means to feed your baby. You’re navigating uncharted territories and learning on the job – especially with a newborn – while being given, often unsolicited, advice that usually just makes you feel worse. Because being a mom comes with a lot of second-guessing, a lot of anxiety, and a lot of guilt (anyone else feel like Google and social media makes this even worse?). But in the end, you know your baby better than anyone and you’re trying your best for them. And that’s what matters.

So, think of You Do You, Mama as our love note to you.

And think of our Seamless Bra Campaign as our gift (the month is literally dedicated to boobs; how could we not talk about bras?).

You have probably seen the statistic somewhere that 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size. And this just does not sit well with us, especially since we’re thinking about pregnant and postpartum boobs. Wearing the wrong size with pre-pregnancy boobs is bad enough – but when you’re pregnant or just had a baby? Your boobs are literally up to 35% heavier! They NEED support. And if you do not give them the support you need, they’ll let you know in the form of back or neck pain and stretched breast tissue.

Personally, I don’t want any of that. And if you don’t either, finding your right size is your top priority. We made it simple for you with an all new Bra Fit Guide, which will walk you through each step of the process with videos and helpful tips. And I know what you’re thinking – won’t my boobs just keep changing sizes throughout pregnancy and nursing? You bet. But we thought of that and designed our award-winning Seamless Bra to have a flexible fit that covers multiple band and cup sizes. So, as your boobs do their thing, the Seamless Bra will keep on supporting you.
